Jon Stewart hits it big... again.
This guy is a pure genius

His current mission is to make CNBC a network where one can trust to bring you honest news about the financial market, which has been lawless in the past decade.
He maintains that the CNBC reporters should take the responsibility to call out the mad crazy money deals the financial market people are making. And that the fact that they were not able to do this shows that they are siding with the big capital instead of the people. However, what Job Stewart doesn't say is that all of big media, all of TELEVISION by nature of how is structured has to side with capital. If you think about how television is produced, from which money.. its all big capital. Its much easier to call out politicians since they are not directly the hands that feed you. However, for CNBC to call themselves the business channel..its harder.
Also, its not just CNBC... its all financial media that is in on this.
anyhow for more check out this episode of Job Stewart where he interviews a commentator from CNBC.
What they are talking about - video clip - in the beginning of the interview is called
"Short selling".

I suppose what you say could be true. But I will play the devil's advocate here.

Suppose you are right, and people really are interested in the truth and they aren't getting it, then why doesn't some TV station go rogue and start reporting what the people really want, and make alot of money? Shouldn't some capitalists with money be willing to finance such a project?

In sum: why is the news market failing to produce what the people want? Why is the market failing and how can it be fixed?

re 2 owen: people themselves do not invest/give money to the broadcasting companies. The broadcasting companies make money through commercials, both using slots and inside their shows. People can only choose to watch or not watch the shows made already. Broadcasting companies are already doing their best to facilitate the needs of companies - through putting business friendly messages (Advertisement) not only in their commercial slots but in the shows itself(there was a name for this.. I forget). This is not a new thing.
The real and relevant question is actually why would people watch it if they know that the tv shows are not providing them with true/profitable information - this I will write more on later, but has to do with unequal distribution of information.

Agreed. This is essentially what I meant by "why is the market failing?".
